LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 21, 2009

TO:
Honorable Steve Ogden, Chair, Senate Committee on Finance

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2045 by Williams (relating to certain constitutionally dedicated funds allocated to the Lamar Institute of Technology and to the administration of that institution.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Contingent upon voter approval of an amendment to the Texas Constitution allowing the Lamar Institute of Technology to receive direct annual Higher Education Fund (HEF) appropriations, this bill would direct the Comptroller to adjust the HEF allocations of other HEF eligible institutions as necessary to include the Lamar Institute of Technology in the annual HEF allocations.

Both Senate Bill 2146 and House Bill 4535, companion bills relating to the reallocation of the HEF, would provide a separate allocation to the Lamar Institute of Technology ($1,825,332 in fiscal years 2009 and 2010 and $2,332,463 in fiscal years 2011 through 2014).

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
