LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2009

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2114 by Lucio (Relating to studying the costs and benefits of a pilot program for employment and community integration services for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to conduct a study of the cost and benefits of a pilot program to provide comprehensive, integrated community services to adults with autism or other developmental disabilities.  HHSC may contract to develop a pilot plan for the pilot program in conjunction with the study.  The contract must be for fewer than 500 hours.  HHSC estimates that the cost for the study and development of a pilot plan can be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
