No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to the appointment of counsel for the purposes of community supervision revocation or appellate proceedings. The bill would require that counsel to indigent defendants in appeals and motions to revoke community supervision be provided according to Art. 26.04, Code of Criminal Procedure. Such requirements would include making the appointment from a list of attorneys approved by judges in a county and in a manner utilizing a rotation system.
