LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 19, 2009

TO:
Honorable Chris Harris, Chair, Senate Committee on Economic Development

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2174 by Harris (Relating to the authority of certain municipalities to enter into an agreement with a school district to dedicate revenue from a tax increment fund to the district for the acquisition, construction, or reconstruction of an educational facility.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would change the population limit for municipalities authorized to dedicate revenue from a tax increment fund for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, or reconstructing an education facility. Based on the criteria, the bill would apply only to the City of Grand Prairie.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
