LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2009

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2224 by West (Relating to orders of nondisclosure for the records of children convicted of certain offenses punishable by fine only.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code as it relates to orders of nondisclosure for the records of children convicted of certain offenses punishable by fine only. The bill would require that a court must issue an order prohibiting criminal justice agencies from disclosing to the public criminal history information related to convictions of a child for offenses punishable by fine only.  The bill provides for the release of criminal history record information to specified agencies or entities, only.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.  This analysis assumes that implementing the provisions of the bill would not pose a significant fiscal or operational impact to the state.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
