IN RE:	SB2277 by Ellis (Relating to authorizing certain entities in the legislative branch to provide student loan repayment assistance to employees who are attorneys.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize certain agencies and entities in the legislative branch to provide student loan repayment assistance to attorneys. The bill would allow an entity that assists the legislature to receive assistance in the repayment of education loans for attorneys employed by them who apply and qualify for the assistance. The Office of the Attorney General, along with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the State Bar of Texas, may be asked to provide assistance to an entity in administering this bill.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.

It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementing the  provisions of the bill would be absorbed within existing resources for the affected agencies.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
