The bill would amend the Government Code requiring the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to increase hazardous duty pay from $10 to $12 for non-correctional employees. The bill would remove the $300 maximum amount of hazardous duty pay for full-time state employees. Costs associated for the increase in hazardous duty pay are estimated to be $1.7 million annually. The bill adds that the provisions of the bill are not mandatory if the Legislature does not appropriate funds to implement the bill.
