LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 9, 2009

TO:
Honorable Kip Averitt, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2329 by Hegar (Relating to abolition of the Edwards Aquifer Legislative Oversight Committee.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would abolish the Edwards Aquifer Legislative Oversight Committee and would transfer the committee's responsibility for annually reviewing the Edwards Aquifer Authority's 20-year plan to the standing committees of the senate and house of representatives that have primary jurisdiction over natural resources.

The oversight committee is composed of members of both houses of the legislature and is required to examine and report on the effectiveness of the state and local governmental entities regarding the Edwards Aquifer Authority. The committee is also required to provide oversight and review of activities related to the authority. It is anticipated that any savings from abolishing the committee would be insignificant.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
