LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT STATEMENT

81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 22, 2009

TO:
Honorable Pete Gallego, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3769 by Fletcher (Relating to certain fradulent investment schemes; providing penalties. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

The bill would amend Vernon’s Texas Civil Statutes by defining fraudulent investment schemes and determining punishment and fines for the offenses bases on the value of the offense.  It is assumed that the number of persons convicted under this statute would not result in a significant impact on the programs and workload of state corrections agencies.
