LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

EQUALIZED EDUCATION FUNDING IMPACT STATEMENT

81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 20, 2009

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2152 by Patrick, Dan (Relating to an exception to the wealth per student limitation for certain school districts.), As Introduced

No adverse impact on equalized funding requirements and policies affecting public education is anticipated under the provisions of the bill since the affected districts are not currently projected to be subject to the wealth equalization provisions of Chapter 41.   If districts affected by this bill were to exceed the equalized wealth level, those districts would presumably retain an amount of local revenue that would otherwise be subject to recapture.
