Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 5, 2009, and being granted permission to meet while the house is in session,  the House Committee on Business & Industry met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Deshotel, at 8:38 p.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

Absent:              Representatives Christian; Miller, Sid (2).

 

A quorum was present.

The chair laid out SB 747 as pending business.

 

Representative Elkins offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Elkins moved that SB 747, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                             Representatives Deshotel; Elkins; Christian; England; Gattis; Giddings; Keffer; Orr; Quintanilla; Turner, Sylvester (10).

 

Nays:                             None (0).

The chair laid out SB 1701.

 

Representative Elkins moved that SB 1701, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
