Pursuant to a notice posted on May 15, 2009, and having been granted suspension of the 5-day posting rule and all necessary rules on May 19, 2009 to hear SB 1462 and SB 2223, and pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 19, 2009, the House Committee on Defense and Veteran's Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Corte, at 8:18 a.m.

SB 1462

Representative Chavez moved that SB 1462, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Representative Chavez offered a complete committee substitute.

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Farias moved that SB 2323, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.

 

Representative Farias withdrew the motion.

 

Representative Turner, Chris moved to reconsider the vote by which the substitute was adopted.  The motion to reconsider prevailed without objection.

 

The committee substitute was withdrawn without objection.

 

The bill was left pending without objection.
