Pursuant to a notice posted on July 9, 2010, and revised on August 17, 2010, the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence, Subcommittee on Dallas Redistricting, met jointly with the House Committee on Redistricting, Subcommittee on Dallas Redistricting and the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting, in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Branch, at 12:05 p.m.

 

Present:           Representatives Alonzo; Branch (2).

 

Absent:            Hartnett (1).

 

A quorum was present.

The House Committee on Redistricting, Subcommittee on Dallas Redistricting, was called to order by the chair, Representative Pena, at 12:05 p.m.

 

Present:           Representatives Harless; Pena; Veasey (3).

 

Absent:            None (0).

 

A quorum was present.

 

The Senate Select Committee on Redistricting was called to order by the chair, Senator Seliger.

 

Chairman Todd Hunter addressed the audience. Chairman Delwin Jones addressed the audience.  The following members were present: Representatives Jackson, Jim; Phillips; Alvarado; Mallory Caraway; Burnam; and Davis, Yvonne.

 

(Representative Hartnett now present.)

 

Representative Alonzo addressed the audience.

 

Representative Veasey addressed the audience.

 

Representative Burnam addressed the audience.

 

Representative Phillips addressed the audience.

 

Chairman Branch addressed the audience.

 

Senator Seliger introduced the Senate Select Committee and additional Senators.  Senators addressed the audience. 

 

Representative Pena addressed the audience.

Senators made closing remarks.

 

Representative Hartnett addressed the audience.

 

Representative Veasey addressed the audience.

 

At 2:34 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting  recessed.

 

Representative Jim Jackson addressed the audience.

 

At 2:36 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
