Pursuant to a notice posted on February 19, 2009, the House Committee on Public Health met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Kolkhorst, at 8:09 a.m.

 

The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:             Representatives Kolkhorst; Naishtat; Davis, John; Gonzales; Hopson; McReynolds; Truitt (7).

 

Absent:              Representatives Coleman; King, Susan; Laubenberg; Zerwas (4).

 

A quorum was present.

 

The committee met to hear invited testimony relating to an overview of public health issues in Texas.

At 9:58 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until 2:00 p.m., February 24, 2009.

 

The committee reconvened at 2:16 p.m. and was called to order by the chair, Representative Kolkhorst. The roll was answered as follows:

 

Present:             Representatives Kolkhorst; Naishtat; Coleman; Davis, John; Gonzales; Hopson (6).

 

Absent:              Representatives King, Susan; Laubenberg; McReynolds; Truitt; Zerwas (5).

 

A quorum was present.

 

The committee continued to hear invited testimony relating to an overview of public health issues in Texas.
