Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Monday, April 27, 2009, in the E1.714.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:25 a.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Local & Uncontested Calendar
The chair laid out the list of bills recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar to be held on April 30, 2009, at 8:00 a.m.
Jessica Ramos, representing Senator Zaffirini, testified on HB 806. Jennifer Chambers, representing Senator Duncan, testified on SB 1813. Sandy Hentges, representing Senator Watson, testified on SB 2018.

Senator Uresti moved that, with the exception of the bills previously listed, the bills on the recommended list be certified for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.
SB 1854
The chair laid out SB 1854 and recognized the author, Senator West, to explain the bill. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Williams moved that SB 1854 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 10:16 a.m. Senator Uresti moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
