Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on S/C on Flooding & Evacuations was held on Thursday, April 2, 2009, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

At 1:06 p.m. Senator Nichols assumed the chair.  

 

The chair laid out SB 1462 and recognized the author, Senator Carona, to explain the bill. 

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

At 1:18 p.m. Senator Gallegos, Jr. assumed the chair. 

 

Senator Nichols moved that SB 1462 be reported favorably to the full Senate committee on Intergovernmental Relations with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 2 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent. 

 

The chair laid out SB 1299 and recognized the author, Senator Watson, to explain the bill.

The chair laid out SB 1752 and recognized the author, Senator Jackson, to explain the bill.

The chair laid out SB 1890 and recognized the author, Senator Gallegos, Jr., to explain the bill. 

 

Senator Gallegos, Jr. sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Gallegos, Jr. to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.  Senator Gallegos, Jr. moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Nichols moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on March 18, 2009; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 1:31 p.m. Senator Gallegos, Jr. moved that the committee stand recessed until the call of the chair; without objection, it was so ordered.
