Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Monday, February 9, 2009, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out SB 1 as pending business.

 

Senator Hinojosa assumed the chair. 

 

Testimony was given on the following institutions of higher education.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.

Senator Ogden resumed the chair.

At 1:13 p.m. Senator Hinojosa moved that the Committee stand recessed until 30 minutes after adjournment of the Senate; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Hinojosa reconvened the Committee at 2:32 p.m.

 

Testimony resumed on the following institutions of higher education, with witnesses on the attached list:

Senator Ogden assumed the chair.

 

Senator Ogden announced that Texas Woman's University and Texas State Technical College System (and its Components) would be moved to the beginning of the agenda of the February 10, 2009 hearing.  Without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Ogden moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 5:17 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed until 8:30 a.m., February 10, 2009.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
