Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was held on Monday, February 9, 2009, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

The chair recognized Senator Huffman as a new member of the committee and introduced committee staff.

 

The chair laid out the proposed committee rules and recognized Committee Director, E. Joyce Iyamu, to explain changes to the rules.

 

Senator Hegar moved adoption of the committee rules. There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair called Joey Longley of the Sunset Advisory Commission to provide invited testimony on Sunset Advisory Commission process. The chair asked Joey Longley to meet with Senator Huffman to explain the Sunset process in more detail.

 

At 2:13 p.m. Senator Ellis moved that the committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
