Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Subcommittee on Gaming was held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, in the Senate Chamber.

Senator Bob Deuell, the acting chair, called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out SB 1084 and SJR 31 and recognized the authors, Senator Ellis and Senator Carona, to explain the bill and resolution.  Senator Carona sent up committee substitutes for both bills; the chair recognized Senator Ellis to explain the difference between the committee substitutes and the senate bill and resolution as filed.  The chair opened public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Deuell moved that SB 1084 and SJR 31 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.   

 

The chair laid out SB 2104 and recognized the author, Senator Uresti, to explain the bill.  The chair opened public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Deuell moved that SB 2104 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair laid out SJR 54 and recognized the author, Senator Uresti, to explain the bill.  The chair opened public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Deuell moved that SJR 54 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair laid out SB 1656 and recognized the author, Senator Wentworth, to explain the bill. 

Senator Deuell sent up Committee Amendment 1 and recognized Senator Wentworth to explain the amendment.  The chair opened public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Deuell moved that SB 1656 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 10:45 a.m. Senator Deuell moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
