Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Thursday, April 30, 2009, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:06 a.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out HCR 88 in lieu of SCR 46 (which was left pending from a previous hearing).

 

Senator Deuell moved that HCR 88 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. 

 

The chair laid out HB 1454 in lieu of SB 1144 (which was left pending from a previous hearing).

 

Senator Deuell moved that HB 1454 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. 

 

As a matter of pending business, the chair brought up SB 1536.

 

Senator Uresti moved that SB 1536 do not pass but that CSSB 1536 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.
