Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 2:50 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
The chair recognized General Land Office Commissioner, Jerry Patterson, to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
The chair laid out HB 3358 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill.
Senator Shapleigh sent up Committee Amendment 1 and explained the differences.
No persons registering or testifying on HB 3358.
The chair moved that public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Van de Putte moved that HB 3358 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
At 2:56 p.m. Senator Shapleigh assumed the chair.
The chair laid out HJR 116 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Van de Putte, to explain the bill.
