R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The certain knowledge of a life well lived may serve
  to comfort the loved ones of Elizabeth Ann Liggett of Kerrville, who
  passed away on May 22, 2011, at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, Born on October 27, 1923, in Glenham, New York, to
  Michael and Anna Macuga, the former Betty Macuga was the youngest of
  seven children; she grew up in East Douglas, Massachusetts, and
  attended the Villa Sacred Heart academy in Pennsylvania before
  graduating as salutatorian from East Douglas High School; she met
  Dr. Charles Lee Liggett, Sr., while enrolled in nursing school at
  Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and the two went on to
  share a 67-year marriage and raise four children, Judy, Charles,
  Scott, and Kent; and
         WHEREAS, The Liggetts settled in Baytown in 1951 and enjoyed
  nearly three decades there, during which time they were active in
  Trinity Episcopal Church; Mrs. Liggett and her husband eventually
  retired to Kerrville, where they joined St. Peter's Episcopal
  Church; Mrs. Liggett was an active member of Riverhill Country Club
  and volunteered at St. Peter's Cottage Shop, and she took pleasure
  in reading, traveling, and gardening; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of strong faith who loved to care for her
  family and home, Betty Liggett touched many lives with her kind and
  generous ways, and she will always be remembered with admiration
  and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Elizabeth Ann Liggett and extend sincere sympathy to the members
  of her family: to her husband, Dr. Charles Lee Liggett, Sr.; to her
  children, Judy King and her husband, John, Dr. Charles Lee Liggett,
  Jr., Dr. Scott Liggett and his wife, DeLaina, and Kent Liggett; to
  her eight grandchildren, Carey, Patrick, Marci, Evan, James, and
  Carly Liggett and Madison and Johnson Wallis; and to her other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Elizabeth
  Ann Liggett.
