R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Taryn B. Millar received her doctorate in psychology
  from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., on May 12,
  2011; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Harlingen High School South, Ms.
  Millar prepared for her doctoral studies by majoring in English and
  psychology in the Honors College at the University of Houston,
  graduating summa cum laude in 2006; she served as a resident advisor
  and hall director while at the university and has held summer jobs
  with the City of McAllen Parks and Recreation department, the
  McAllen Country Club, and the Quinta Mazatlan urban sanctuary; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Millar has gained experience through her work in
  community mental health centers, middle and high schools, and
  forensic settings, and her clinical interests include
  psychoeducational outreach targeting at-risk populations, mood
  disorders, substance dependence, and creativity; she currently
  serves as an intern with the Counseling and Psychological Services
  Department of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and
  holds a part-time position with the National Institute of Mental
  Health; in July 2011, she will begin working as a psychotherapist at
  the Saint Luke Institute in Silver Spring, Maryland; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Jeffrey and Nancy Millar of McAllen,
  Taryn Millar has demonstrated unwavering perseverance in the
  pursuit of her goals, and she can reflect proudly on her
  accomplishments as she prepares to embark on the next exciting
  chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Taryn
  B. Millar on earning her doctorate in psychology from George
  Washington University and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Millar as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
