R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, State District Judge Rudy Delgado was selected as |
|
the April 2011 Cancer Fighter of the Month by the American Cancer |
|
Society of the Rio Grande Valley, and he is being recognized at the |
|
annual Cattle Baron's Ball at La Antiqua Revilla on June 25, 2011; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Diagnosed with liver cancer in June 2008, just seven |
|
months after losing a beloved son, Roman David Delgado, Judge |
|
Delgado underwent chemotherapy and then had a liver transplant in |
|
January 2010; he has faced his illness with courage and |
|
determination, and he has allowed his experience to deepen his |
|
faith, his compassion, and his appreciation for the blessings of |
|
each day; and |
|
WHEREAS, Judge Delgado was born in Mexico and raised in |
|
Edinburg from infancy; after earning his bachelor's degree in |
|
political science from the University of Michigan, he went on to |
|
graduate from The University of Texas School of Law in 1981; he |
|
moved back to the Rio Grande Valley in 1983 and served as assistant |
|
district attorney before entering private practice and then |
|
becoming judge of the Criminal Court of Law No. 1; in 2001, he was |
|
elected judge of the 93rd District Court; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Judge Delgado enjoys the |
|
support and encouragement of his wife, Diana Reyna Delgado, and |
|
their sons, Rudy Dan, Ricco Diaman, and Ryan Diego; the grace he has |
|
demonstrated in meeting his health challenges is an inspiration to |
|
many people, and it is indeed fitting to honor him at this time; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Judge Rudy |
|
Delgado on his selection as April 2011 Cancer Fighter of the Month |
|
by the American Cancer Society of the Rio Grande Valley and extend |
|
to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Judge Delgado as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
