R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Independent businesses and local entrepreneurs
  further the economic well-being of towns all across the Lone Star
  State, and Clemente Garza, Jr., and the staff of the Texas Cafe in
  Rio Grande City are deserving of recognition for their
  contributions to the local community; and
         WHEREAS, The cafe was first opened in 1939 by Mr. Garza's
  father, Clemente Garza, Sr., and uncle, Antonio Salinas; Clemente
  Garza, Jr., went to work in the restaurant at the age of 10 and
  learned the business from the bottom up, beginning as a dishwasher
  and a cook, then waiting tables, and finally handling the cash
  register; he successfully balanced his job with his studies and
  graduated from Rio Grande City High School; in time, he took over as
  the owner of the Texas Cafe; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Garza takes special pride in his establishment's
  envueltos and chicken-fried steak, and he credits the restaurant's
  employees with making the Texas Cafe what it is today; in all of his
  endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Esther, and
  his four children, Rebecca, Clemente, Ricardo, and Joy; and
         WHEREAS, For more than seven decades, the Texas Cafe has
  enriched the lives of residents of Rio Grande City and helped
  bolster the local economy, and it remains a favorite community
  institution; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Clemente Garza, Jr.,
  and the staff of the Texas Cafe for their hard work and
  entrepreneurial achievements and extend to them sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Garza and the Texas Cafe staff as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
