R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, James Bounds of Lake Travis High School earned the |
|
top score on the physics portion of the science contest at the 2011 |
|
University Interscholastic League Conference 4A State Academics |
|
Spring Meet; and |
|
WHEREAS, The most comprehensive literary and academic |
|
competition in the nation, this annual event includes a variety of |
|
contests that complement the academic curriculum and also motivate |
|
students to acquire higher levels of knowledge, confront issues of |
|
importance, and think critically; and |
|
WHEREAS, The science contest consists of a two-hour objective |
|
test with 60 questions, 20 each from biology, chemistry, and |
|
physics, and challenges high school students to do a wide range of |
|
reading in each field, as well as to gain an understanding of the |
|
significance of experiments and to be alert to new scientific |
|
discoveries; and |
|
WHEREAS, With the guidance and encouragement of LTHS science |
|
teacher Archie McHarg, Mr. Bounds distinguished himself as one of |
|
the best physics students in the state, and he may indeed take pride |
|
in his achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate James Bounds |
|
on earning the top score on the physics portion of the science |
|
contest at the 2011 UIL Conference 4A State Academics Spring Meet |
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Bounds as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
