R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, During the 82nd Legislative Session, Alda Santana
  has ably served her fellow Texans as senior legislative assistant
  in the office of State Representative Eddie Rodriguez; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Santana joined the staff as a legislative aide
  and was quickly promoted to district director; two weeks later, she
  earned promotion again to senior legislative assistant; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Puerto Rico, Ms. Santana holds a
  master's degree in social work from The University of Texas at
  Austin; she has brought considerable energy, intelligence, and
  expertise to her many responsibilities, helping Representative
  Rodriguez with legislation on such vital issues as public health,
  food safety, and animal welfare; she has been particularly
  passionate about protecting children from hazardous chemicals and
  working for passage of the "Cottage Food Bill"; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Santana also brightened the office every day
  with her contagious laugh and her love for Bertrum Thumbcat, and she
  helped initiate an important new tradition in the office known as
  "Waffle Wednesday"; this dynamic young woman further distinguished
  herself with her affinity for red-haired Irishmen, though she will
  be hard pressed to find any of those in South America, where she
  hopes to journey in the fall; and
         WHEREAS, Alda Santana has provided indispensible support
  throughout her tenure with the Texas House of Representatives, and
  she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work in
  behalf of House District 51; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Alda Santana for
  her service as senior legislative assistant in the office of State
  Representative Eddie Rodriguez and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Santana as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
