R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Robert Finn is stepping down as chief of the police |
|
services division of the Southlake Department of Public Safety in |
|
June 2011 to accept a new opportunity, drawing to a close a notable |
|
career in public service that has spanned nearly a quarter-century; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Chief Finn grew up in Southlake, where he graduated |
|
from Carroll High School in 1985; he went on to earn a bachelor's |
|
degree from the University of North Texas in 2001 and a master's |
|
degree in business administration from Grand Canyon University in |
|
2010; he is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has |
|
pursued legal studies at the University of Virginia; and |
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding public servant joined Southlake |
|
DPS in 1987, and through the years he distinguished himself in a |
|
variety of posts, including volunteer firefighter, emergency |
|
medical technician, and professional firefighter; he was the city's |
|
fire chief from 2002 to 2008, and in August 2008, he became |
|
Southlake's chief of police; under his leadership, the city's fire |
|
and police services earned international accreditation, and he also |
|
helped oversee the completion of the DPS headquarters and the |
|
development of the department's command staff; and |
|
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Chief Finn has |
|
also found time to contribute to the community as a member of the |
|
board of trustees for Metroport Meals on Wheels and as a member of |
|
the Southlake Rotary Club and the Southlake Chamber of Commerce; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Robert Finn's dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of |
|
Southlake and earned him the respect and admiration of his |
|
colleagues, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well |
|
spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Chief Robert |
|
Finn on his outstanding tenure with the Southlake Department of |
|
Public Safety and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Chief Finn as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
