R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jean Callison concluded her distinguished service |
|
|
as a member of the Plano City Council in May 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, First elected as the Place 7 council member in 2003, |
|
|
Ms. Callison was returned to office by the voters in 2005 and 2008; |
|
|
she has been active in her community in numerous ways, serving on |
|
|
the City of Plano tree ordinance committee, as a committee vice |
|
|
chair in the National League of Cities, and as a committee member |
|
|
for the Plano Independent School District Education Foundation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Callison has also served as president of the |
|
|
Plano chapter of the Young Men's Service League, the Junior League |
|
|
of Plano, and a local parent-teacher association; in addition, she |
|
|
was the treasurer of Plano Youth Leadership, a board member of the |
|
|
Plano chapter of the National Charity League, a board member and |
|
|
officer of the Assistance Center of Collin County, and a member of |
|
|
the Leadership Texas Class of 2009; her work has been recognized |
|
|
with awards from Leadership Plano and from the Collin County |
|
|
Children's Advocacy Center; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A resident of Plano for more than three decades, |
|
|
Jean Callison graduated from Plano Senior High School and earned |
|
|
bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from |
|
|
Baylor University; in her work as a public servant, she has drawn on |
|
|
her eight years of experience as a budget and financial analyst at |
|
|
Electronic Data Systems; she is a member of ParkwayHills Baptist |
|
|
Church and has held many positions on the church board; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Callison enjoys the |
|
|
love and support of her husband, Glenn, and her two children; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jean Callison has demonstrated leadership and |
|
|
commitment as a member of the city council, and her contributions |
|
|
have helped make Plano an even better place in which to live and |
|
|
work; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Jean Callison for |
|
|
her service on the Plano City Council and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Callison as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
