R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Glen Larum retired from the Texas Department of
  Transportation on August 31, 2010, drawing to a close a
  distinguished career with the agency that spanned more than 17
  years; and
         WHEREAS, In 1993, Mr. Larum joined TxDOT after working for 25
  years in the news media; as the public information officer for the
  12-county Odessa District, he was highly regarded for his skill,
  expertise, and dedication to alerting residents about conditions
  affecting their travel on area roadways; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Larum worked at radio station KDBM while
  completing his bachelor's degree in education at the University of
  Montana--Western; after graduating, he taught English and history
  at St. Ignatius High School before becoming editor of the Ronan
  Pioneer in 1974; he went on to serve as editor of the Fort Stockton
  Pioneer for more than a decade; in addition, he was employed by the
  international United Methodist Reporter and then the Odessa
  American; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with the Department of
  Transportation, Glen Larum demonstrated outstanding
  professionalism and a commitment to excellence, and he may indeed
  reflect with pride on his many contributions to the agency and to
  his community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Glen Larum for his
  service to the Texas Department of Transportation and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Larum as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
