R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Julian F. Stockwell of Duval County has greatly
  benefited his fellow citizens through his outstanding public
  service; and
         WHEREAS, During the course of his long and varied career, Mr.
  Stockwell distinguished himself as manager of the Duval County Soil
  and Water Conservation District, earning recognition from the state
  health commissioner for his proficiency; he went on to make a
  positive difference in the lives of countless young people as
  director of Duval County's Youth Service Bureau, and he further
  contributed to his community as a member of the Coastal Bend Council
  of Governments Public Protection Committee; and
         WHEREAS, A proud veteran of World War II, Mr. Stockwell
  enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after graduating from Benavides
  High School in 1940; following his discharge in 1947, he worked as a
  security guard at the Kingsville Naval Air Station and was later
  employed by the Trinity Gas Corporation; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Stockwell has also been a rancher for more than
  half a century, breeding Beefmaster cattle and working in close
  partnership with the Agua Poquita Soil and Water Conservation
  District; his membership in the Texas and Southwestern Cattle
  Raisers Association dates back more than 50 years, and he has been
  recognized on many occasions for his conservation efforts; in
  addition to his other accomplishments, he is a gifted singer who
  performed with several popular orchestras and at many weddings
  during the 1940s and 1950s; moreover, he delighted audiences with
  his wit as an emcee at local events; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Stockwell enjoys the
  love and support of his wife of 65 years, Elma Carrillo Stockwell,
  their sons, James and Mac, and their grandchildren, James, Jamie,
  Julian Patrick, and Mack; and
         WHEREAS, Julian Stockwell's dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to the welfare of his community have earned him the
  respect and admiration of all who know him, and he is indeed
  deserving of recognition for his inspiring record of civic
  engagement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Julian F. Stockwell
  for his years of public service in Duval County and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Stockwell as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
