R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Lois Elaine Black Couch of Baytown passed away on |
|
June 19, 2011, leaving her loved ones to cherish their many happy |
|
memories of time spent in her company; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Oakman, Georgia, on October 26, 1930, the |
|
former Lois Black was the daughter of Paul and Leola Black; she |
|
graduated from high school at the age of 16 and moved to Atlanta, |
|
where she worked for the Home Insurance Company and served in the |
|
Navy Reserve; on a blind date at a U.S. Air Force squadron party, |
|
she met the love of her life, Rex Goodnight Couch; they married in |
|
Atlanta and moved to Baytown in 1954; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Couch was employed in the insurance industry |
|
for four decades; through her skill, dedication, and commitment to |
|
excellence, she earned the high regard of her employers and |
|
customers alike; the devoted mother of a daughter, Pam, and a son, |
|
John, Mrs. Couch eventually knew the joy of welcoming two |
|
grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren, and she delighted in spending |
|
time with them and using her culinary talents to prepare whatever |
|
treat they requested; and |
|
WHEREAS, In Baytown, Mrs. Couch was a member of First Baptist |
|
Church and then Memorial Baptist Church; she joined Tallowood |
|
Baptist Church after relocating to the west side of Houston in 1980 |
|
and participated in mission projects and the ladies auxiliary; |
|
following their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Couch made their home in |
|
San Marcos and became active in First Baptist Church; Mrs. Couch |
|
volunteered for Meals on Wheels and took part in Sunday school and |
|
mission activities; while enjoying the beauty of the Hill Country, |
|
she made numerous wonderful friendships and grew particularly fond |
|
of her lunch group; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lois Couch brought joy to many through her sunny |
|
outlook and kind and caring ways; although she will be deeply missed |
|
by those who were privileged to share in the richness of her life, |
|
they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Lois Elaine Black Couch and extend sincere sympathy to the members |
|
of her family: to her husband of 57 years, Rex Goodnight Couch; to |
|
her daughter, Pam Warford, and her husband, Chris; to her grandson, |
|
Brandon Warford, and his wife, Kristen; to her granddaughter, |
|
Lauren Williams, and her husband, Bob; and to her other relatives |
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lois Elaine |
|
Black Couch. |
