R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Alfredo Delgado is retiring from the Housing
  Authority of Del Rio on June 30, 2011, and the conclusion of his
  outstanding 31-year tenure provides a fitting opportunity to
  reflect on the contributions of this esteemed Texan; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Del Rio, Mr.
  Delgado attended Texas A&I University, where he earned bachelor's
  and master's degrees; he began his career as director of operations
  of Planning and Urban Development in Corpus Christi and went on to
  serve as director of planning of a health planning agency, a
  position in which he supervised 12 counties and nearly $46 million
  in funding; he returned to his hometown in 1977 to join the Middle
  Rio Grande Development Council and he was soon promoted to director
  of manpower services; and
         WHEREAS, In 1979, Mr. Delgado was hired by the Housing
  Authority of Del Rio and under his able guidance as executive
  director the number of units the agency oversaw has grown from 500
  to more than 1,400 today; he has helped to increase services to
  low-income residents by bringing the Modern Rehab Section 8 Housing
  Program as well as the Rotary Villages I and II to Del Rio, and he
  was instrumental in initiating the conversion of the Roswell Hotel
  into a facility for elderly and disabled individuals; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Delgado has further contributed to his community
  through his work as president of the San Felipe Lions Club, the Del
  Rio Rotary Club, and the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Delgado has enjoyed the
  support of a loving family that includes his wife, Ana Maria, and
  his children, Alfredo, Mark, John, and Anne; and
         WHEREAS, Alfredo Delgado's dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of Del
  Rio, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as
  he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Alfredo
  Delgado on his retirement from the Housing Authority of Del Rio and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all of
  his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Delgado as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
