R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Huntsville and surrounding |
|
communities are mourning the loss of the Honorable Richard Bruce |
|
Duncan, justice of the peace for Precinct 2 of Walker County, who |
|
passed away on June 15, 2011, at the age of 52; and |
|
WHEREAS, Richard Duncan was born on July 3, 1958, in Mountain |
|
Home, Idaho, to Patricia and Evert Aultman; he was raised in |
|
Colorado and Wyoming and served his country in the United States |
|
Marine Corps until 1982; after leaving the military, he met the love |
|
of his life, Katy, and they enjoyed 27 rewarding years together as |
|
husband and wife; and |
|
WHEREAS, The couple moved to Amarillo, where Mr. Duncan |
|
worked while attending West Texas A&M University; after graduation, |
|
he took a position at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville in |
|
1993; he began his service as justice of the peace for Precinct 2 of |
|
Walker County in 2006; and |
|
WHEREAS, An active member of the First United Methodist |
|
Church of Huntsville, Judge Duncan also shared his time and talents |
|
with numerous other organizations, including the Forrest Masonic |
|
Lodge No. 19, the Elkins Lake Community Association, the American |
|
Legion, the Lions Club, the Optimist Club, the Huntsville Bass |
|
Masters, the Military Officers Association of America, and the |
|
executive and rodeo committees of the Walker County Fair and Rodeo |
|
Association; in addition, he served as a mentor to children through |
|
his involvement with school programs, and he helped organize |
|
banquets to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project; an avid |
|
outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing and also took great |
|
enjoyment in playing the domino game 42; above all, he treasured the |
|
time he spent with family and friends; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although his life ended far too soon, Richard Duncan |
|
was a positive influence in the lives of many residents of Walker |
|
County, and he will forever be remembered with great admiration and |
|
affection by all who had the privilege to know him; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of the Honorable Richard Bruce Duncan and extend sincere |
|
condolences to the members of his family: to his wife, Katy Duncan; |
|
to his sister, Carol Korgan; to his aunts, Jeannie Stewart, Sandra |
|
Lance, Lela Griffin, and Mary Miller; to his nephews, Nathan and |
|
Levi Korgan; to his nieces, Nova and Sarah Korgan; and to his other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judge |
|
Richard Duncan. |
