R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Locally owned businesses are vital to the economic |
|
well-being of Texas communities, and in 2011 the Ellis Motor |
|
Company is celebrating 40 years of service to the residents of |
|
Chandler; and |
|
WHEREAS, Coy Ellis was born and raised in Chandler, where his |
|
father and grandfather had a grocery and hardware store; he |
|
graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler in 1965 and served in |
|
the United States Army for three years; after completing his |
|
service in 1969, he began working on cars in his family's barn, and |
|
he built and opened a repair shop in 1971; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis has operated his business in the same |
|
location ever since, expanding the building three times; the |
|
company has grown to include four full-time employees, and he |
|
credits his success to his many loyal customers from Chandler, |
|
Tyler, and the surrounding area; and |
|
WHEREAS, A prominent member of the community, Mr. Ellis has |
|
given back to his hometown by serving on the Chandler City Council |
|
for nearly a quarter of a century, and he is also a member of the |
|
town's Masonic Lodge; in all of his endeavors, he enjoys the love |
|
and support of his wife, Barbara Ellis; and |
|
WHEREAS, This independently owned business has continued to |
|
thrive over the course of four decades, and it is indeed deserving |
|
of recognition on the occasion of this milestone year; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Coy Ellis and |
|
the Ellis Motor Company on the 40th anniversary of the business and |
|
extend to Mr. Ellis and his staff sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Ellis as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
