R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Steve K. Askins of Irving passed away on May 19,
  2011, at the age of 62, leaving his circle of family and friends to
  cherish their many happy memories of time spent in his company; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Corsicana, Steve Askins was born on
  August 1, 1948, to Samuel Wade Askins and Jimmie Opal Haigood
  Askins; he graduated from Irving High School and continued his
  studies at North Texas State University; he subsequently served his
  country as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve from 1971
  to 1977; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Askins pursued a career as a certified public
  accountant, partnering with Robert Yeager and Company in Dallas for
  more than 35 years until going into business for himself in 2010; in
  his leisure time, he volunteered as a scoutmaster for Boy Scout
  Troop No. 508 and took great pleasure in any number of outdoor
  activities; he possessed a lifelong love of learning, and he
  delighted in family quiz competitions and Scrabble matches; he was
  particularly knowledgeable about music, birds, and native Texas
  wildlife; and
         WHEREAS, Although Steve Askins will be deeply missed, he
  leaves behind a legacy that will forever be treasured by all those
  whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Steve K. Askins and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Vicky Ann Askins; to his sons, Dustin Kyle
  Askins and his wife, Lindsay, and Shane Austin Askins; to his
  daughters by heart, Gayle Marie Jones and Terri Rensel Blake; to his
  grandson, Kelton Askins; to his brother, Mike Askins; to his
  sisters, Leslie Bilyeu and her husband, Tim, and Laurie Ayers and
  her husband, Clint; to his five nieces, Lindsay and Stephanie
  Bilyeu and Emily, Holly, and Heather Ayers; and to his other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Steve K.
  Askins.
