R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant |
|
Nicholas Price Bellard of El Paso suffered an immeasurable loss |
|
with the death of this valiant soldier on June 13, 2011, at the age |
|
of 26; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, |
|
3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Staff Sergeant |
|
Bellard was killed while bravely serving his second tour of duty in |
|
Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Crowley, Louisiana, Nicholas Bellard |
|
moved to El Paso at the age of 13; after graduating from high |
|
school, he joined the army in 2003, and his skill and dedication to |
|
duty earned him many honors, including two Army Commendation |
|
Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, |
|
and the National Defense Service Medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant Bellard was devoted to his family, |
|
including his beloved wife, Veronica, and their two-year-old |
|
daughter, Eva; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|
forces, Nicholas Bellard inspired others with his leadership and |
|
service, and those who were fortunate enough to know him will |
|
forever carry his memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Nicholas Price Bellard and extend deepest |
|
sympathy to his wife, Veronica, to his daughter, Eva, and to his |
|
other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army |
|
Staff Sergeant Nicholas Price Bellard. |
