R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the State of Texas
  is pleased to recognize the Former Texas Rangers Foundation for its
  exemplary work in preserving the history of the Texas Rangers; and
         WHEREAS, One of Texas' oldest and most renowned institutions,
  the Texas Rangers played a vital role in protecting the frontiers
  and the roadway and railroad systems of transportation during the
  early years of the Republic of Texas and the State of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, The Former Texas Rangers Foundation was created in
  1971 in order to provide support for the Former Texas Rangers
  Association, which was founded in 1897 as a social and benevolent
  organization and consists of past members of this legendary law
  enforcement agency and their descendants, who are all dedicated to
  preserving the history of the Texas Rangers; and
         WHEREAS, The Former Texas Rangers Foundation has a goal of
  educating the general public and the schoolchildren of Texas
  through programs and future facilities at the Fort Martin Scott
  Historical Site; and
         WHEREAS, The foundation has through the years successfully
  assisted in the fulfillment of the association's mission of
  perpetuating the true history of the Texas Rangers, maintaining a
  center dedicated to their story, establishing landmarks related to
  Texas Rangers history, administering a scholarship program, and
  bringing together former and active rangers for fellowship and
  support; it has worked tirelessly to institute the Texas Rangers
  Heritage Center in Fredericksburg to further its goal of raising
  public awareness of the many contributions the Texas Rangers have
  made to the state; and
         WHEREAS, The Former Texas Rangers Foundation is truly
  deserving of recognition for its efforts to preserve an important
  part of the state's history and to educate the public on the role
  the Texas Rangers played in the rich historical legacy of our state;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Texas House of Representatives of the
  State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby
  commend the Former Texas Rangers Foundation on its outstanding work
  and extend to its members best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
  foundation as an expression of esteem from the Texas House of
  Representatives.
