R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Thomas Plyler of Del Rio, who passed away on May 25, 2011, at the |
|
age of 74; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on June 1, 1936, in Lancaster, South Carolina, |
|
"Jack" Plyler was the son of G. B. and Ella Mae Plyler, and he |
|
enjoyed the companionship of three sisters, Mattie, Barbara, and |
|
Linda, and six brothers, Frank, Allen, Gene, Donald, James, and |
|
Grady; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Plyler joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954, and |
|
over the course of his military career, he was posted to bases in |
|
Massachusetts, Missouri, Hawaii, Illinois, and Maryland and to |
|
Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio; he spent time in Vietnam and |
|
Germany, as well, and retired in 1977 as an E-8 senior master |
|
sergeant; and |
|
WHEREAS, With his beloved wife, Barbara, Mr. Plyler shared a |
|
rewarding marriage that was blessed with four children, Elizabeth, |
|
Sharlene, Thomas, and Steven, and through the years, he took great |
|
pleasure in watching his family grow to include five grandchildren |
|
and a great-grandchild; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Plyer established Del Tex RV and Auto Repair |
|
Center in 1979; active in the community, he belonged to the local |
|
chamber of commerce, the Del Rio Military Affairs Association, the |
|
American Legion, and the Amistad Sams and the Retired Military |
|
RVers, both chapters of the Good Sam Club; he was also a faithful |
|
member of Grace Community Church, and in 1992 started the first home |
|
care group for the church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jack Plyler lived a rich and purposeful life |
|
centered around his family and service to others, and he will long |
|
be remembered with deep affection by all who knew him; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of Thomas "Jack" Plyler and extend sincere sympathy to the members |
|
of his family: to his wife, Barbara Plyler; to his daughters, |
|
Elizabeth Parton and Sharlene Perez and her husband, Ernest; to his |
|
son, Steven Plyler, and his wife, Catherine; to his son of the |
|
heart, Jimmy Scott; to his grandchildren, Jacquelyn Davis and her |
|
husband, John, Matthew and Kaleb Parton, and Jessica and Zachary |
|
Plyler; to his great-grandchild, Cruz Davis; to his sisters, |
|
Barbara Hamby and Linda Plyler; to his brothers, Gene Plyler and his |
|
wife, Marlene, Donald Plyler and his wife, Martha, James Plyler and |
|
his wife, Debbie, and Grady Plyler and his wife, Berdina; to his |
|
sister-in-law, Elfreida Plyler; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jack |
|
Plyler. |
