SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 27
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize G. Stephen Howerton for his 30 years of outstanding |
|
|
service as the city manager of Ennis; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Steve Howerton has more than 36 years of |
|
|
successful private and public sector management experience; he |
|
|
is celebrating his 30th anniversary as manager of the City of |
|
|
Ennis on June 29, 2011; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, As the Ennis city manager, Mr. Howerton is well |
|
|
known for effectively coordinating the goals and activities of |
|
|
the various city departments; the city is organized into 12 |
|
|
departments, and there are 180 city employees; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, He has worked with the administrations of six |
|
|
different mayors, and he has handled the far-reaching |
|
|
responsibilities of a city manager's position with exceptional |
|
|
skill and dedication; he has overseen the construction of |
|
|
numerous projects, including the Ennis Regional Hospital, the |
|
|
Ennis Public Library, Bluebonnet Park, and the Ennis Public Works |
|
|
Complex; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Howerton has also overseen the expansion of |
|
|
the water and wastewater plants and the Ennis Airport on numerous |
|
|
occasions; he played a significant role in several major economic |
|
|
development projects, including the recruitment of the $8.3 |
|
|
billion Superconducting Super Collider Project and a $150 |
|
|
million power plant; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A highly respected civic leader, he has |
|
|
contributed significantly to the harmony and progress of a |
|
|
growing city for three decades, and he has been instrumental in |
|
|
the city's achievement of designation as an official Texas Main |
|
|
Street Community and as a Texas Certified City for Economic |
|
|
Leadership; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend G. Stephen |
|
|
Howerton for his 30 years of outstanding leadership as manager of |
|
|
the City of Ennis and extend to him best wishes for the future; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
