Rudolph T. Barrera |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
who |
|
died May 27, 2011, at the age of 86; and |
|
WHEREAS, Rudolph T. Barrera was born January 31, 1925, in |
|
Corpus Christi; a 1943 graduate of Corpus Christi High School, he |
|
served the nation with distinction during World War II as a |
|
member of the United States Army Air Forces; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Barrera graduated from Northern Illinois |
|
College of Optometry in 1950 and enjoyed a long and distinguished |
|
career as an optometrist with his own practice; and |
|
WHEREAS, Active in professional and community affairs, Dr. Barrera |
|
was a member of the Optometric Association and was a cofounder of |
|
Nueces National Bank; he had served on the Corpus Christi Zoning |
|
and Planning Commission and the United States Draft Board of |
|
Corpus Christi, and he was one of the founders of the United |
|
Married Couples Social Club and the Scepter Couples Social Club; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he |
|
gave generously to others, and his love of laughter and his |
|
enthusiasm for living life to the fullest will not be forgotten |
|
by those who knew him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Rudolph T. Barrera; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
|
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of |
|
Dr. Rudolph T. Barrera. |
