SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 39
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Britton E. Plunk
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Hardin County in mourning the loss of the Honorable
  Britton E. Plunk, who died May 17, 2011, at the age of 64; and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Silsbee, Britt Plunk
  graduated from Silsbee High School and from Lamar University; he
  earned his doctor of jurisprudence degree from South Texas
  College of Law, and he worked in the private practice of law until
  1977, when he joined the district attorney's office in Hardin
  County; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Plunk married his high school sweetheart, Jan
  Ford, in 1977, and in 1983, he was elected Hardin County
  attorney; the state created the 356th Judicial District Court in
  1984; Mr. Plunk was the first person to be elected judge of the
  district, and he continuously served in that capacity until his
  death; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Plunk was dedicated to his work in public
  office and to the people of Hardin County; he heard more than
  20,000 cases, ranging from civil to criminal; throughout his
  tenure, he upheld the highest standards of his profession; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Judge Plunk was respected
  in the community for his many accomplishments; he was an avid
  outdoorsman and enjoyed bird and deer hunting on his South Texas
  ranch; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Plunk was devoted to his family and friends,
  and he leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by
  those who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Judge Britton E. Plunk;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Judge Britt Plunk.
