SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 59

Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui, who died |
|
June 4, 2011, at the age of 79; and |
|
WHEREAS, Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui was born June 3, 1932, |
|
in Mexico City; she attended the prestigious Colegio Alemán |
|
Alexander von Humboldt and the Jesuit Universidad |
|
Iberoamericana; and |
|
WHEREAS, She worked for some years for Proctor and Gamble |
|
de Mexico before marrying Carlos Arguindegui in 1959 and moving |
|
to Laredo; she earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Laredo |
|
State University and served as a teacher for 20 years at Martin |
|
High School; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic who practiced her faith in her |
|
daily life, Mrs. Arguindegui regularly attended the Adoration |
|
Chapel at Saint Patrick Catholic Church and made regular |
|
pilgrimages throughout the United States and Europe; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of many cultural interests, she had a |
|
great appreciation for the arts, travel, history, gourmet |
|
cooking, and playing cards with good friends, and her warm |
|
hospitality and loyal friendship will not be forgotten by those |
|
who knew her; and |
|
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, |
|
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by |
|
her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Rosa Maria Barrera |
|
Arguindegui; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
|
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of |
|
Rosa Maria Barrera Arguindegui. |
