SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 129

Dunk Jorden, Jr. |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Dunk Jorden, Jr., who |
|
died June 17, 2011, at the age of 85; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dunk Jorden was born January 15, 1926, in |
|
Lecompte, Louisiana; after attending school in Lecompte, he and |
|
his sister moved to Houston, and he became a resident of |
|
Independence Heights; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jorden worked for a construction company and |
|
helped to build many of the buildings in downtown Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, He was a devout Christian and was a member of the |
|
Bella Vista Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as church |
|
bus driver; he was also a member of the Baptist Training Union and |
|
the choir; and |
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Dunk Jorden was a |
|
generous, kind-hearted person who was respected in the |
|
community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for his wisdom and compassion, he gave |
|
unselfishly to others, and he was devoted to his family; he was |
|
beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories that will be |
|
treasured forever by all who were privileged to share in his |
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Dunk Jorden, Jr.; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
|
and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of |
|
Dunk Jorden, Jr. |
