Charles G. Orsinger |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Charles G. Orsinger, who died June 18, |
|
|
2011, at the age of 89; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Charles Orsinger was born October 20, 1921, in San |
|
|
Antonio to Mary Louise and Gunther Orsinger; he graduated with |
|
|
the first class of Jefferson High School and attended Washington |
|
|
and Lee University before transferring to The University of Texas |
|
|
at Austin, where he met and married Lorraine "Sissy" Davenport; |
|
|
they were married for almost 68 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He volunteered for active duty with the United |
|
|
States Army in 1944 and served as a finance officer in the Pacific |
|
|
theater; beginning in 1955 and for a period of 38 years, he built |
|
|
one of the top 20 Buick dealerships in the United States; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in his community, he served on the boards |
|
|
of trustees of the San Antonio Medical Foundation, Trinity |
|
|
University, and the National Bank of Commerce and on the boards |
|
|
of directors of several community organizations; he was a member |
|
|
of the Texas Cavaliers, the Conopus Club, and the Argyle Club; a |
|
|
man of great faith, he was a lifelong member of First |
|
|
Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder for |
|
|
many years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, His reputation in the community was that of an |
|
|
intelligent, strong, and charitable gentleman, and his friends |
|
|
|
|
|
husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves behind memories that |
|
|
will be treasured forever by his family, his many friends, and |
|
|
all who had the good fortune of knowing him; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Charles G. Orsinger: his |
|
|
wife, Sissy; his brother, Albert Orsinger; his son, Ward Orsinger |
|
|
II; his daughters, Gay Orsinger Parks and Jana Orsinger; his five |
|
|
grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Charles G. Orsinger. |
