Amend CSHB 8 (house committee printing) by adding the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumbering subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:

SECTION ____.  Section 5.205, Property Code, as added by this Act, applies only to a contract for the sale of real property entered into on or after January 1, 2012. A contract for the sale of real property entered into before January 1, 2012, is governed by the law in effect immediately before the effective date of this Act, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
