Amend HB 1988 (house committee printing) as follows:

(1) On page 1, line 16, following "family.", insert "The court shall consider the statement before sentencing the defendant."

(2) Strike page 1, line 23, through page 2, line 7, and substitute the following:

(c) The defendant or the defendant's counsel:

(1) may not cross-examine the person making the oral statement; and

(2) may introduce testimony or other information alleging a factual inaccuracy in the oral statement.
