Committee Report (Substituted) |
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Currently, a Texas resident who was born before September 1, 1930, is not required to pay the fee for a general fishing license issued in the state. A Texas resident born after that date, however, is required to pay the license fee. C.S.H.B. 550 exempts from the fee a resident whose birth date is before January 1, 1931.
|
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
|
ANALYSIS
C.S.H.B. 550 amends the Parks and Wildlife Code to exempt from the requirement for a general fishing license a Texas resident whose birth date is before January 1, 1931, rather than September 1, 1930.
|
EFFECTIVE DATE
On passage, or, if the bill does not receive the necessary vote, September 1, 2011.

COMPARISON OF ORIGINAL AND SUBSTITUTE
|
C.S.H.B. 550 differs from the original by exempting from the requirement for a general fishing license a Texas resident whose birth date is before January 1, 1931, whereas the original authorizes the Parks and Wildlife Commission to waive the fee for a general fishing license for a resident who is at least 65 years of age. |
