Committee Report (Unamended) |
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Currently, persons eligible for burial in the state cemetery are listed in provisions of law. Texas Rangers are not among the persons listed despite their impressive record of public service to the state. H.B. 924 seeks to correct this oversight by allowing certain officers of the Texas Rangers to be buried in the state cemetery.
|
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
|
ANALYSIS
H.B. 924 amends the Government Code to add an honorably retired officer of the Texas Rangers who served at least 12 years as an officer and an officer of the Texas Rangers who served at least 12 years as a Texas Ranger or died in the line of duty to the persons eligible for burial in the state cemetery.
