BILL ANALYSIS

H.B. 1120

By: Weber

Natural Resources

Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Legislation passed during a recent legislative session created the Country Place Management District as a political subdivision of the State of Texas to administer and provide funding for economic development projects and services within the district. However, voters at the required confirmation election failed to confirm the district's creation.  H.B. 1120 repeals the law relating to the establishment and operation of the district in deference to those voters.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

H.B. 1120 repeals Chapter 3875, Special District Local Laws Code, relating to the establishment and operation of the Country Place Management District.

EFFECTIVE DATE

On passage, or, if the bill does not receive the necessary vote, September 1, 2011.
